The Change Room - where entertainment nudges behavioural science into the spotlight.
Hosted by Geoff Paine, The Change Room is a series of free live events presenting insights and quirky truths from the behavioural sciences. Our goal is simple: to give you a better understanding of why we behave the way we do and how we can do it better.
Introduced in 2016 by BehaviourWorks Australia, The Change Room showcases the latest research in an engaging and interactive way. We don't promise any magic bullets, but we do promise science, evidence and storytelling at its best.
Our next event returns on November 7, called Misinformation - a true story. Only two days after the US elections, we're taking a look at Mis and Disinformation. What's the difference between them? How does fake news work and who's behind it? And most importantly, what can we do to cut through it? We can explain.
Fake news isn't new, but it's been turbocharged by screens like the one you're looking at now. At The Change Room we'll share the latest on how Australians are mis, dis or accurately informed and why our brains are wired to jump to conclusions (even when they're wrong).
You'll learn how to identify lies when you see them and protect democracy in the process. No pressure.
Not sure what to expect? Here's a teaser from our last show to give you a taste of what we're all about:

It was an amazing show that made me reflect on how myself describe and engage with nature. Nature is not 10 kilometers away, it can be in your backyard or anywhere around you, slow down, observe and connect with it.
